Turnaround and ordering

How fast can you actually cut an order?

Quick-turn is the point of the shop, not a surcharge hidden in the fine print. Many cut-to-length and plate jobs move in hours or in the next production window. Exact timing depends on thickness, process, quantity, and what is already on the tables. Put the need-by date on the quote. We will say yes or no. We will not take a date we cannot hit.

Do you offer same-day or next-day cutting?

Yes, when the material, process, and queue allow it. Straight saw cuts on in-stock shapes and straightforward plate work are the jobs most likely to leave the same day or first thing the next morning. Complex nests, thick oxy work, and large production runs get a firm window on the quote, not a hope.

How fast do you quote?

Most complete packages (material, size, quantity, process, and a file or cut list) get a number the same business day. Incomplete requests take longer because we will not invent a thickness or a grade for you. Call 352-697-3507 if the job is already late.

Is there a minimum order?

No artificial shop minimum. If we can put it on a saw or a table without losing the setup, we will cut it. One replacement angle and a fifty-piece plate nest both get a real number. Tiny one-offs are priced honestly. They are not refused to protect a mill-quantity story.

Can I bring my own steel for you to cut?

Yes. Customer-owned material is routine. Tell us the grade, thickness, and what you want off it. We inspect it on arrival, cut to the print, and have it ready for pickup or delivery. If the piece is unusable or the grade does not match the ticket, we stop and call before we burn it.

Do you supply the steel as well as cut it?

Yes. Source-and-cut is a single ticket: we pull or procure the material, cut it, and stage it. If you already bought the steel, we process only. Say which one you want on the quote so you are not paying for material twice.

Cutting, materials, and files

What cutting processes do you run?

Saw cutting for structural, bar, tube, and pipe. Plasma for plate and sheet profiles. Oxy-fuel and torch for heavier plate where plasma is the wrong economics. Shearing, punching, and simple features when that keeps a second shop out of the sequence. We pick the process that hits the print and the date, not the one that looks newest on a brochure.

What materials do you cut?

Everyday work is carbon and structural steel: A36 and common structural grades, plate and sheet, hot-rolled bar, wide flange, channel, angle, pipe, tube, and floor plate. Stainless and aluminum are quoted by job. If the grade is unusual, such as AR plate, weathering steel, or a specific A572 heat, send it. We will tell you if we can run it this week or if it belongs on a different process.

What is the thickest plate you can cut?

Plasma handles the mid-range plate work. Oxy-fuel takes over when the section gets heavy. Exact envelopes depend on the table and the grade. Send the thickness with your request and we will confirm it against the floor. If we cannot cut it cleanly, we will say so instead of burning a bad edge.

What files do you take?

DXF and DWG are best for profiles. A PDF, a dimensioned sketch, a cut list, or a clear phone photo of the piece you need replaced will get a quote moving. Closed contours, no stacked lines, and text converted to outlines save everyone a revision cycle. If the file is dirty, we will tell you what to fix rather than guessing at a hole size.

What tolerances should I expect?

Saw cuts are held square and to a production tolerance that fabricators can weld to. Plasma and oxy hold to the process: plasma tighter on mid-gauge plate, oxy appropriate for heavy plate where a ground edge or a fit-up gap is already in the plan. If the part needs a machined finish or a tight hole pattern, say that up front. We will either hold it or tell you it needs a second operation.

Can you cut miters, holes, slots, and custom shapes?

Yes. Miters and multiple lengths from the same stick on the saw. Holes, slots, rings, base plates, gussets, and irregular profiles on plasma. If the feature set turns the job into full fabrication with forming, welding, and finish, we will say so and quote the cutting portion cleanly, or point you to a fab partner. We do not pretend a saw ticket is a finished assembly.

Do you cut stainless, aluminum, or AR plate?

By quote. Carbon and structural are the daily queue. Stainless, aluminum, and abrasion-resistant plate are scheduled against the right process and consumables. Lead time can be longer than mild steel if the plate is not on the floor. Ask before you promise your customer Friday.

Can you nest multiple parts on one plate to save drop?

Yes. Send the full set, not one part at a time. Nesting is how plate jobs stay cheap and how drop stays on our floor instead of yours. If you only need three gussets out of a four-by-eight, say so. Do not buy the sheet and hope.

Pricing, the 50% offer, and the Florida price match

How does the 50% first-order discount work?

On your first order with Heritage, send a recent invoice from the steel cutter you use now. If the job is like-for-like, meaning the same material family, comparable thickness, same quantity band, and same process, we bill that first Heritage job at 50% of the invoice. One first-order discount per company. It is a receipt-versus-receipt offer, not a coupon code.

What counts as like-for-like on the first-order offer?

Same family of material and a comparable thickness. Same quantity band, not one piece compared to a hundred. Same cutting process: saw versus saw, plasma versus plasma, oxy versus oxy. Same basic scope. A cutting invoice compared to a full fab package with weld, prime, and delivery extras is not like-for-like. We will show our work if we have to adjust.

How recent does the comparison invoice need to be?

Current enough that the number still means something, typically within the last 90 days. Steel moves. A two-year-old invoice is not a price. If the market has clearly shifted, we will say so and still give you a sharp first-order number rather than hide behind a technicality.

How does the Florida Price-Match Guarantee work?

After the first order, and on any job where you already have a competing number, send a dated written quote from another steel cutter located in Florida. Same material, same cuts, same quantity, same scope. We match it or we beat it. Verbal my-guy-said numbers do not qualify. Out-of-state quotes do not qualify. The guarantee is statewide on purpose.

What will you not match?

Quotes with no date, no company, or no scope. Numbers that leave out material, delivery, or process. Work we cannot physically run. Full fabrication packages dressed up as a cutting price. And any shop outside Florida. If the competing quote is real and in-state and we can run the job, we will meet it or go under it.

Are delivery, tax, and material certs in the quoted price?

The quote will say. Cutting, material, delivery, and certifications are line-itemed so you can compare apples to apples against the invoice you already have. Will-call is one number. Job-site delivery is another. Mill certs on request. We will not win a price match by stripping out freight you still have to pay.

Do you charge extra for rush?

Urgency is already built into how the floor is run. If a true after-hours or bump-the-queue job costs extra capacity, it will be on the quote before you approve, not on the invoice after the truck leaves. No surprise expedite fees after the fact.

Do you provide mill test reports?

Yes, on request for material we supply. Ask on the quote so the cert travels with the bundle. Customer-owned material keeps the certs you already have. We do not invent a heat number for steel we did not buy.

Pickup, delivery, and doing business

Do you deliver across Florida?

Yes. Will-call at the Homosassa shop and delivery statewide. Tell us the city or job site when you quote. Local lanes move faster than a cross-state drop. If the piece is oversize, we will flag freight and any escort needs instead of showing up with a truck that cannot take the load.

Can I pick up the same day?

When the cut is complete and tagged, yes. Ask for the will-call cutoff when you place the order. Bring the PO and a way to handle the length. A 40-foot beam does not fit in a half-ton. We will tell you the bundle weight and the longest piece before you drive out to the yard.

Do you work with small shops or only big accounts?

All of them. The shop is built for the job that cannot wait, whether that job is a production nest for a fab shop or three replacement channels for a superintendent who just measured the opening. You do not need a blanket PO and a purchasing portal to get a cut.

Do you cut evenings, weekends, or holidays?

By arrangement when the job is truly down. Do not assume a Saturday crew is standing by. Call 352-697-3507. If we can open the floor, the quote will say when and what it costs.

What if the cut is wrong?

Stop the job and call. If the error is ours, meaning wrong length, wrong profile, or wrong grade against the ticket we accepted, we recut. If the file or the verbal dimension was wrong, we will show you the ticket and quote the remake. We would rather recut a piece than argue with a welder standing in the field. Document the print. We will document the cut.
